Black Pine Tar Salve
You're going love everything about this all purpose, do everything salve (except maybe the smell). Comfrey has well known anti-inflammatory properties and it reduces pain while it accelerates healing. Plantain leaf slows bleeding and is a powerful anti-bacterial and antimicrobial. Pine tar is a natural antiseptic and like charcoal and bentonite clay it also has wonderful drawing properties to remove toxins, infection and foreign bodies from the skin. Tea tree adds additional anti-bacterial properties, while peppermint adds another layer of pain relief. All three essential oils have anti-itch properties as well. There is not a whole lot this salve wont do!
Use a clean finger to scoop a little (or a lot) of the salve spread topically on the skin. Cover with a bandage. Be careful, it stains!
Use on rashes including rashes caused by poison oak, poison ivy and poison sumac. It soothes and relieves itching and swelling caused by insect bites and stings. It speeds the healing of minor abrasions, burns and scrapes and kills infection causing bacteria. Its drawing properties will also bring splinters, thorns and stingers to the surface of the skin for easy removal. It can also be used to draw out ingrown hairs, cysts and other minor skin infections.
